Radiance (2019)

Radiance represents a conceptual history of women in this City; specifically multidimensional dreamers, motivators, organizers and agents of change. The woman presented symbolizes generations of unacknowledged Women of Color- this is a nod, a thank you- to their work, to their light... A light radiates from them.

“She’s brighter than the sun behind her, and even so among the fragmented and distorted reality surrounding her. She aspires for more than is expected of her, and that is why she shines brighter than most.”

Challenge and triumph are themes addressed with the collective’s Afrofuturistic approach, a philosophy of science and history that explores the developing intersection of African Diaspora culture with technology. Color and shape emphasize vibrancy, and importance. The collective hopes to show a changing dynamic- a new era. Women of Color are our past and our very bright future.

About the Artists:
The Rorshach Collective is comprised of Andre Leon and Robert Ramone; two artists that are natives to Newark, New Jersey. Like other inner city kids from around the world, their focus is solely on circumventing the obstacles set against them. They are both from deeply rooted immigrant Latino households and, despite not being bonded by blood, formed a connection at a young age. Their work is a true collaboration, a collective focus to create work that has the potential to uplift and empower others.
